I switch back and forth between the NIV and the KJV. Many times I will read from the NIV, then read the same verse or verses in the KJV. I do find that I usually will read more when I read from the NIV. I guess because it's easier for me to read being that I'm in my late 20's. I think both versions basically say the same thing. Just one is easier to read for some people. I also do agree though, that if you pray to understand what you're reading, then you will.

I did not mean to start an argument here. I'm sorry if I did. I think that Doc22 said it best.

Hope that it's not too late to put my $0.02 in. I really feel that the most important thing is to stand by your beliefs. Elizabethen English (which is what was spoken in England during K. James" time) is extremely hard to understand. Here is a verse that I was able to find quickly, followed by the KJV that we know. It is from Rev. 21:8 "But the feareful, and vnbeleeuing, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all lyars, shall haue their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death." (KJV)But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. The original King James also had the Books of the Apocrapha. Nobody is wrong for studying from the KJV, NKJV or other translations, but, while the Bible is the inspired word of God, there have been mistakes made in EVERY translation. By the way, when the colonists first came to this country, they brought the "real" KJV.

KJV is the only one for me, i truly belive that we need to pray to god for the correct understanding of his word and let his holy spirit guide and direct our thoughts, i have met several christians who say that the reason they dont read the bible is because they cant understand it, pray to god and let him reveal his word to you , and he will, Love this new racing forum.

That's very good Danny. No matter what version a person reads it takes the Holy Spirit to reveal to them what he meant when he spoke it.2 Pet chapter 1 says we need to take heed unto the word as a light that shines in a dark place UNTIL the day dawns and the day star arises in your heart, you see it for what it is.That's where most of us messes up,we don't take enough time to meditate on it. I use the KJ so I can use the Strongs concordance and see what the greek or hebrew word meant that a word was translated from. Well, thats a long enough sermon.lol
