The 3rd Annual WCBI News Southern Showdown Next!
Southern Showdown Championships Coming Saturday Night!
COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI-Racing action returns to the Magnolia Motor Speedway on Saturday night May 13th at 7pm with the 3rd Annual WCBI News Southern Showdown. The big event will feature Southern Showdown Championships in three divisions including the return of the Topless Twin 25’s for the Super Late Models plus local divisions in action.
Fans will see two complete main events for the Rebel Challenge Series Topless Super Late Models which should make for a great night of entertainment. Adding to the drama will be the fact that the winner of the first Topless Super Late Model main event will draw for an inversion of the field for the second 25-lap main event. The Super Late Models will compete without their roofs, going “topless,” allowing for fans the opportunity to have an exceptional view of the drivers man-handling their 750 plus horsepower high-performance Super Late Models. It is also possible for a driver to take home $3,500 in winnings with a sweep of the Topless Super Late Model events plus a ton of Rebel Challenge Series points. Last year’s event saw both Rodney Wing and David Breazeale visit Victory Lane in front of the large crowd at the exciting event. It should be a high intensity night at the Magnolia Motor Speedway.
All the exciting local divisions will be in action including Open Wheel Modifieds, Late Model Stocks competing in 20-lap Southern Showdown Championship events. Plus the Stormpay.com Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Cruiser divisions will all be in action. The local divisions always put on a great show at Magnolia Motor Speedway and this event should be no different.
Southern Showdown action gets underway Friday night May 12th with an open practice from 8pm until 10pm. Grandstand admission is free for practice and pit admission is $15.
Saturday night May 13th will see Topless Super Late Model Pole Qualifying, B-Mains as needed, and the WCBI News Southern Showdown Topless Twin 25’s. Plus all local divisions will be in action with heats and Southern Showdown Championships plus a Cruiser main event. Adult admission is only $15. Plus family friendly pricing will be in effect with children ages 10 and under admitted free; while student ages 11 to 18 and military personnel are admitted for only $10 on Saturday night. Fans should note that coolers and lawn chairs are welcome and there is a family section to the left of the flagstand. Fans should make note that the Speedzone Trackside parking is only $10 per car and offers one of the most exciting seats in the facility. Fans need to get to the track early as the Speedzone parking in turns 3 and 4 is first come, first serve and was sold out at the last event.
Event details are listed on the online event flyer at the top of the page.
