Week 15 Toccoa and Dixie Speedways (GA) 6-16, 17-06
Fathers Day weekend brought a two day at two speedways. I headed out solo to Toccoa, Georgia Friday morning and upon arrival started receiving prayer requests right off the bat. These important requests will be at the bottom of this report. Please join us in prayer for them as you have time. I handed out about 50 keychain-measuring tapes with I Samuel 16:7 enscripted on one side with “The Lord looks at the Heart” above it. On the other side it says, “God measures the Heart.” After handing these out to all the drivers we did a devotion at the drivers meeting on that passage. Being Fathers Day weekend we talked of the measure of a man by telling them the story of David when Samuel was in search of the next King. Samuel thought he found the next King in Jesse’s oldest, tallest, most handsome son, but God had already rejected him because God measured his heart. So God told Samuel to look for another son who was David. You see God had already measured King Saul’s heart and knew it would rot in arrogance, unfaithfulness, and insecurity. We as humans measure mostly by the outside, even in church. People want to hire beautiful white smiles, with a head full of hair, blemish free skin, designer clothes, and muscles you can see even without flexing. Most of the models have these setting the standard on TV., in magazines and billboards. Triangular bodies, broad at the shoulders, narrow at the hip. (Tell me one guy who is shaped like a pear could sell jockey brand underwear?) Well ok, two but they dressed them in an apple, or a grape cluster suit. Real men are real men for reasons other than their pricy jeans that look used even when they are new, or drenched in designer cologne, or whiten their teeth to attract “real women”.
Sin always focuses our attention on the wrong things-using faulty measures to evaluate or judge. The true measure of the heart of a man (or woman) can be taken only in the heart. What does our hearts look like? Sin on the inside and outside. There is no cure for it, each of us need a new heart. You see real men and women have hearts that beat to a rhythm or repentance and faith. Believing, Godly hearts that are thrilled at the relief Christ provides in his forgiveness and the renewal worked by his Holy Spirit. God blessed the night with safety even though only 11 cars finished when 27 started the race.
Saturday I awoke refreshed after receiving the hospitality of one of our drivers offering me a guest room in his home. Soon I was off to Dixie Speedway to see thirty more drivers that were not at Toccoa the night before. Again, I had many opportunities to minister right off the bat, in which I will list below for prayer. But I passed out 30 more tape measures to drivers and about 50 posters from the new “Cars” movie by Pixar, to the children in the pits. At the drivers meeting, I told fathers and men that someone was looking up at them at all times. Homer, wrote a book called Odyssey a long time ago about a king who left for the Trojan War and left his son in the hands of a man named Mentor. Over a thousand years later, a French scholar and theologian enlarged the character of Mentor. Soon the meaning of mentor was, “a wise and responsible tutor-an experienced person who, guides, advises, teaches, inspires, challenges, corrects, and serves as a model.” II Timothy 2:2 describes spiritual mentoring, and the Bible gives s many examples. Timothy had Paul, Mark had Barnabas, Joshua had Moses, and Elishahad Elijah. But what about today? Who is going to love and work with our children and help them grow spiritually strong? Who will encourage, guide, and model truth for them? As a man and as a Father will you become one whom God can use to impart wisdom and to help these little ones grow toward maturity? The Word of God will help us! God teaches us so that we can teach others. “The things you have heard form me (GOD)..Commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2
Now these people are in DIRE NEED of our prayers as they face the unknown;

Kim—near fatal poisoning with insecticides and fertilizers
