This Memorial Day Weekend we took time to honor the men and women of our armed services with recognition of the men and women that were there with us Saturday night and a moment of silence for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that we so often take for granted.
At the drivers meeting we talked about legacies, The ones that lost there lives in service to their country, The perfect legacy of Jesus Christ, and then I asked everyone about their own legacy, what were they going to be remembered for, something honorable, embarrassing, or somewhere in between. I asked if everyone remembered the legacy of Noah, how he listened to God and built the ark, then I asked if they knew that he had been a drunk, nobody remembered that.
Then I asked if everyone knew the legacy of Moses how he lead his people to the promised land and everyone knew that, I then asked them if they remembered that Moses stuttered so bad that without the spirit of God in him you couldn't understand him, Most of them had forgotten about that.
Then Jonah and everyone knew that he was swallowed by the whale, but then he understood that as long as God was with him that he could go to Nineveh and spread Gods word, and Peter everyone knew that he had denied Christ 3 times but again in the end his legacy is that he was the rock that Jesus built his church on.
I then asked one more time what everyone's legacy was going to be and I reminded them that all of us have something in our past that we hope will not be our legacy, but God has a way of cleaning up our past through his son Jesus and no matter how bad our past has been that if we put our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior that we would leave behind a Godly legacy.
