Week 7 Lavonia, Georgia 4-15-06
Easter weekend is most definitely our favorite weekend to share Christ with the racing community. We traveled over the Smokey’s to Lavonia Speedway in Georgia Saturday morning. As soon as we arrived we were introduced to the new promoter, Brad, and he allowed us to do all that we had planned for this special weekend. We passed out over 200 Easter bookmarks inside the Gospel of Luke, “Passion Edition” booklets. The white and crimson bookmarks shared the Easter story from the cross to the grave to the sky. Then we shared with the drivers and crews just the Facts of His tory! We started with their passion, how two years ago on Friday all the drivers were contemplating victory at this speedway on Saturday but Tim Headen won here on Saturday. Then last year on Friday this week all the drivers and crews were again strategizing to win here but Chris Madden and crew won. But a little over 2,000 years ago yesterday all crews and their sins were the reason Christ was put on the cross to bleed and die. I shared that this very day back then was a quite day because it was the second day and all that hoped in Jesus Christ were confused and even sad. But Christ was contemplating Victory and overcoming death, hell, and the grave. I told them that there was no way we could be silent knowing now that tomorrow the stone would be rolled away and Christ would rise. I read,
I Corinthians 15:20-22 and explained how each person should ask themselves two questions; has anyone cheated death and can prove it? Is it available to me? I shared that in the early 1900’s many of the world’s smartest lawyers came together to find out if the resurrection of Christ could be proven in a court of law. The answer is yes. Key evidence was the examining of grave sites, Mohammad’s, Buddha’s, Dehlelamma’s, all the Pope’s, Mary’s and any other self-proclaiming Gods’ burial plots were all occupied. Jesus Christ’s tomb was the only empty and body never found. Over 500 witnesses saw Him alive afterward and it was documented. Christ is the first to rise and with the covering of His blood, relationship with Him, repentance, and belief on Him we too can rise from the grave to be with him forever. I shared that salvation was available to all today but not automatic, and prayed for each soul that was not a Christian and for safety for the day. There was a moment of praise before the rest of the driver’s meeting continued. We were allowed to give the devotion again on the p.a. system before the National Anthem then asking all to be sure to attend the church of choice tomorrow that preaches from God’s word. Then we headed down to the front stretch and lined up a few hundred children for an Easter candy and toy toss which was incredible to watch. The announcer allowed us to give God the glory for the many who donated toys, candy, and NASCAR chocolates, Gospel’s of Luke and bookmarks. It was an incredible weekend to share what we as Christians hang our eternity on by faith in God. Our prayer is that many seeds were planted and that the Holy Spirit called many to the Kingdom. We are blessed to be backed by your prayers, donations, and support. We wish you could see each face and life that you touch as we travel. Continue to pray for Dirt Racing Outreach as gas rises and the Evil one attacks at every angle. Thank you!
