Week 4 Cleveland and Tazewell Speedways 3-18, 19-06
This week God had us in the state of Tennessee. Saturday we headed down to the Shamrock 60 in Cleveland in the morning. Upon arrival we were able to speak with the owner before entering the track. He asked for prayer for his cousin up north who has days to live due to cancer, her name is Donna. Robin, Shon and I were able to pass out racer prayer and DRO stickers that each team would place in and on their cars. This time was a great time of fellowship with the drivers and crew members. At the drivers meeting, I tag-teamed the devotion with Ray Cook who told me God laid something on his heart to share. I opened with updates on a couple of drivers injured last week. I explained that we as chaplains cannot be everywhere at all times when tragedy strikes. I shared with them that we know someone who can be there always and everywhere. Hebrews 13:5, says that God said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” If you’re a Christian that is great news and if you’re not, today is the day to make that right. If by some chance you are not a Christian another Christian can pray for you and God can answer his or her prayer. Robinson Crusoe found out when he was shipwrecked and stranded on an uninhabited island. One day he found comfort and hope when he opened the Word of God to read Hebrews 13:5. There and then he realized it was possible to be most happy in his solitary condition than in any other state in the world. The whole world can be against you but who cares if God is with you. Then I explained that there is no better safety feature than that but there are more. Ray Cook then told them of the Haans device, and then held up a driver’s suit and a Bible. He said, “Both these are flame retardant and will resist the hottest flames. The driver’s suit is about 900 dollars and the Bible is free. The suit will last for about two years but the Bible will last forever. You’re free to choose which is best.”
He closed in prayer and we went to continue ministering. We ran into Mrs. Wanda Beavers in the grandstands. Wanda accepted Christ a few weeks ago when I went to Cleveland to pray with her over her most recent diagnoses of cancer. She glistened with great news of Gods healing touch on her life and health. She said the cancer was shrinking and gone in spots. Then she said she wasn’t even getting nauseous with the treatments. She is attending church every chance she gets and reading her Bible regularly. I choked back tears as she sparkled with each bit of news.
Sunday after Church and lunch with the family I headed to Tazewell to speak with some folks we have been praying for since last year. It was a worthwhile trip and God is blessing those who are following His lead.
Please continue to remember in your prayers:
Wanda, Ed, Mike and Donna with cancer
Dale, who lost his father while racing Saturday
Rob, who is facing major marital problems
Jeremy, Duayne, Lamar, and Derrick continued healing
God Bless you all for your prayers and support
