Week 2 Martinsville, Va "National Fellowship Raceway Ministries" 1-12-14-06
Week two had us in Virginia at the annual conference and for Raceway Ministries. Each year all the ministry groups from NASCAR and weekly short tracks as well as series Chaplains get together for a time of praise, worship, reports, training, and fellowship. We share tools, talent, effective ideas, and much more in attempt to not only relate with more folks, but also to expand the territory covered for God. It was an awesome time of refreshing, good food, great people with similar passions for serving God. I was blessed to teach a breakout session on weekly short track and series racing. We covered some ground in applying God's words to every day life and racing, building a rapport with drivers, crews, owners, staff, fans, and everyone at the track, handouts to give to each team, prayer at the track, and much more. I met many great folks and got to fellowship with many we see once or twice a year. We are excited at the opportunities to serve and for what God has in store for the ministry He has given each of us for 2006.
We got to tour Martinsville Speedway, others toured the Wood Brothers race shop, and the others. Buddy Arrington motors. Pray with us for the laborers for weekly tracks as well as prayer and financial support to be able to serve effectively.
Tuesday night I was blessed to drive to Cleveland, TN at the request of the track owner down there. One of his drivers' mother, has recently found out she has cancer in the brain and lungs. I went to pray with her and let her know we cared and ended up leading her to Christ. She wept as she proclaimed she would tell everyone about Jesus, her family, her friends, everyone at the track, and hospital. A half dollar sized tumor was removed from her brain on Wednesday and they are hopeful that the cancer in the one lung can be treated with Chemo. Pray with me for her health and strength as she shares her salvation with family. As we all know family is the hardest to witness too.
