Week 27 Atomic/Tazewell 8/3-4/05
Three Southern All Star races scheduled for this weekend were postponed due to the shortages and rising costs of fuel in America. Everyone was encouraged to support their local tracks and stay close to home. Blessings come in all forms from the Lord. I was overjoyed to be able to see my daughter perform in the color guard for her high school in Kingsport for the first time. It was great to have family time both Friday and Monday. Saturday we headed for Atomic to help brother Ray with a big 100-lap Hall of Fame race. It was good to minister at home and talk to drivers that we have had relationships with for several years. We placed several D.R.O. and racer's prayer stickers on the drivers' cars encouraging them to pray daily as we pray for them also. God's presence was felt throughout the night as Ray gave the devotion and prayer at the drivers meeting. Tempers flared between crews and drivers with some on track altercations but through God provided peace as Ray and I mingled to control a team each in the inner pits.
Sunday after attending my local church, (another blessing), we headed to Tazewell to Chaplain a Lucas Oil N.A.R.A. show for ten grand also. I again walked the pits and spoke with drivers from all over the country and passed out stickers and "God is Good all the time", pocketknives. I was blessed to be able to give God's word out at two separate drivers meetings and pray for their safety. In the drivers meeting we talked about the folks in Mississippi and New Orleans calling out to the people, the rescuers, the mayor, the governor, and even the president for help and to come "SAVE US." I spoke of a man who was writing a book on Palestinian religion and had gone to Israel to meet a Dr. Hassan an expert on the subject. As he arrived he was let out at the end of an empty street in the Gaza strip. The hospital he was looking for was at the other end. As he got half way down the street in became quite clear why the street was empty. On one side was the Israel Militia and the other was the Palestinian youth. Seconds later shouts and screams between the two sparked a riot of rocks hitting shields, rubber bullets being shot, tear gas, and chaos. He broke out into a run for his safety to the hospital but the doors where locked. He beat on the doors screaming, "Dr. Hassan, I am here to see Dr. Hassan." Soon the door opened and an arm pulled him in to safety. You see he called out the correct name in the situation. For sinners, "There is only one name under heaven given among men which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 Jesus is that name, "the name which is above all names." Phil 2:9 we are all born sinners. We have no hope of saving ourselves. Our situation is desperate. We are no different then those who were devastated by the hurricane Katrina. The only way of escape is to call on Jesus, who promises to save us from our sin. Romans 10:13 says whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I asked, "Who are you calling out to?" Have you called on Jesus? To get into heaven, it's who you KNOW that counts. It was quite inspiring to many drivers and folks there and it was the Holy Spirit alone. Pray for those involved in this disaster and helping with the recovery process.
Please remember these also:

Jeremy-Fingers to get stronger Duayne---strength for re-hab
